Nothing here but farmland. Yesterday it took Sav and I an hour to find a decent tree to sit under midday. #theworldwalk #travel #argentinaDay 631. A monster storm yesterday cooled things off. Today Savannah was able to jump in a roadside lake every few miles. It was a pleasant day of walking. And now we're turning southeast, the temp should be dropping steadily. #theworldwalk #travel #argenDay 630. The temperature dropped from 102° to 93° and rainy today. It isn't the greatest leaving a hotel room for rain, but I'd rather rain than heat right now. Hopefully things will start cooling off now. Spent a good two days in the small city of AñatuyDay 629. They make for great shade at high noon. #theworldwalk #travel #argentinaDay 602. Made a huge descent the past two days. Mosquitoes are back, humidity is up, but damn is it nice not having to battle the wind to set up my tent. This photo is from nearly a week back, while I was still at 14,000 feet. #theworldwalk #travel #argenDay 601. After crossing into Argentina the road began a gradual descent. I stayed above the treeline for days, hiding in the shade of street signs when I needed to get out of the sun. Vicuñas could be seen grazing in the distance while their domesticated@fitzmaro just reminded me I've been on the road for 600 days. I lost track for a bit out there in the desert. Crazy it's been 600 days, crazier that it's going to be at least 1000 more. Think I'll go get myself an Argentinian steak to celebrate. #theworlAt the end of my third day from San Pedro De Atacama I finished in the flats of Los Flamencos at 14,000 feet. Okay, back on the road today. Being posted up for a few days was nice, but after a while I feel lost. The immediate purpose of walking is inherently gratifying. Whenever I walk until I'm tired I've had a good day. #theworldwalk #travel #chileDay 567. Welp, that was a brutal game last night, but such is life as Eagles fan. With the OT and the two hour time difference between Perú and Chile my internal clock is out of wack. So I'm staying in Arica for one more day to ensure a good sleep beforeDay 566. This shot is actually from back in Perú. I posted up in an AirBnb today to watch me some SNF. Further exploration of Chile starts tomorrow, but this far I'm loving it here - very clean, no honking cars, and fairly developed. #theworldwalk #travelDay 565. We made it to Chile! We arrived at the border in the afternoon, then I had to go chasing paperwork for Savannah for a few hours, but by 9pm we were across. After that we found a spot of desert and zonked out. Glad to be here! #theworldwalk #traveDay 564. Just a day's walk from the Perú/Chile border. South Perú has been barren, but northern Chile will be doubly so. Gonna have to be ready for long days in the desert. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 563. Have been passing lots of port towns. The fisherman are an extremely friendly lot, they seem to know what the important things are. #theworldwalk #travel #peruSleeping beside the ocean tonight. Pretty much sums up my walk from Lima. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 558. I always see these places and think "I could live there." Wonder where I'll actually end up. #theworldwalk #travel #peruI never had much desire to scale mountains. I've only ever wanted a large field to walk through. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 557. Just had two days of essentially perfect walking. Overcast, spanking new road, and almost no cars. Could go for some ceviche, but that'll have to wait until I get into a town. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 554. Back on the road. Camana was a beautiful, peaceful city. It's surrounded by rice paddies and borders the ocean. Don't know how the salty ocean wind hadn't turned the land fallow. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 553. There have been loads of these secluded beaches during my walk down Perú. Each time I passed one I imagined the swarm of houses that would be surrounding the beach in the US. #theworldwalk #travel #peruA ways back in the olive fields. #theworldwalk #travel #peruDay 552. Also, it's way cooler than I was expecting, a steady breeze has been coming off the Pacific. I'm enjoying this barren stretch very much. #tDay 542.
